Colne Valley

Colne Valley lies between West London and the Chilterns. In 1965 the Greater London Council convened a conference of local authorities to look at potential for cross boundary partnership working in to maintain and enhance the Colne Valley. They concluded that there were wide opportunities for the whole area from Rickmansworth to Staines and the Colne Valley Park was duly established.

Colne Valley covers 43 square miles of varied scenery ranging from
semi-urban to unspoilt countryside.

The Park also acts as a focal point for local groups and in particular the wildlife and natural history groups who recognise the Valley as an ecological unit and have formed the Colne Valley Wildlife Action Group.
